Teeny Tiny Doll Quilt Siggie Blocks are Here!!

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago I mailed off 210 teeny, tiny doll quilt siggie blocks for a swap I joined??  Well, the swap has been completed and I got my blocks back in the mail!!
I got 6 identical sets and they really are cute as a bug!!

Now, I said to myself, hmmmmmmmmm, 6 sets - I will be lucky if I ever get to one or two of the sets, so I thought, I can either put these little cuties away (probably forever) or I can share at least two of the sets.  So, if you love little itty bitty blocks (go HERE to see how small they really are) and have a doll or teddy bear or teddy bunny that needs a winter quilt, just leave a comment and on September 4, my brother's birthday, I will pick at least two "winners".

Is This the Cutest Little Face or What??

Many years ago I took a doll-making class and this is as far as I got.  I am not sure I could even figure out how to re-create such a sweet little face.  But now that I have found her again (I think her name is Poppie) I need to figure out how to make a body for her!!

After . . .

I have always loved how different a quilt looks before it is quilted and then after it is quilted and the binding is on.  Now that I am learning to do the quilting myself ~ and I have a long, long way to go before my quilting looks professional ~ it is even more intriguing to me.

I have a mid-arm that I am using as a table top machine and it has no regulator, so my stitches, depending on how heavy my foot is on the pedal, are large and small and everything inbetween.  I have been told that it will just take practice and I keep telling my foot that, but it seems to have a mind of it's own!!

Anyone have any suggestions they might like to share??  :-))

I have Had the Privilege . . .

and the blessing to be able to make a quilt for my landlady's friend's Mom, who just found out she has bone cancer!!  I am hoping that she can cover herself in this quilt and know that it was made with love and hope for her!!

It's going in the mail tomorrow morning and I hope it brings her much peace!!

Oh Man, Have I been Busy This Past Week!!

And I guess busier than I should have been.  I joined a Doll Quilt Siggie Swap - what was I thinking - I have no kids and no grandkids!!  But, I digress . . .

I signed up for 6 sets and it turned out that we had to make 35 of each set - so that means I had to make hundreds of these little puppies ~ well, 210, but that's hundreds isn't it??  :-)

Each set had to use a different fabric and have a different doll's name on it. Well, since I don't have any dolls, I made up names!!  Each block measures 2-1/2 inches!!  That's tiny!!

But I must say, they did turn out really cute and they are now winging their way to their swap mommy!!  And it feels good to have another project completed!!

I also received my July Doll Quilt Swap quilt from Sharon all the way from Australia and oh, my, goodness, it is wonderful!!!

I love the back just as much as the front so I am not sure which side to display - only kidding!!

Thank you Sharon ~ a lot of love went into this little quilt.  It is now hanging on the wall next to the very first quilt I ever made!!  Love it, love it, love it!!!

I got two of the cutest Hexie Flowers from Leslie, my July partner in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap plus a darling card and note ~

My theme for my garden is dots with white centers.  As Leslie said in her note, these dots are charming!!!  Thank you, Leslie, I love them and they will go in my little garden perfectly!!!

My Friend Joy has Advanced . . .

in McCall's Quilt Design Star 2012/Amateur contest at Creative Crafts Group. She has officially made it into another round and there are only 12 designers at this level.  McCall's sent Joy one yard of fabric and told her she needed to design something around the one yard of fabric.  She was given only 3-1/2 weeks to come up with something.  And here is the piece she came up with ~

Please support a fellow quilter and designer and click on the link below to vote for Joy's creation.

Thanks everyone - and you can vote once EVERY day!!
